Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor who is best known for portraying detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue in which she earned the Emmy Award. Her credits include All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney was born as the only child from her mom who was a homemaker as well as a senior executive from her union, the United Auto Workers. Delaney lived most of her life with her four brothers. In her early years she longed to be a court reporter. After graduating from high school, and moving in New York in the 1980s, she began modeling. She was cast as a child's innocence in the soap opera All My Children. Since then Delaney has been in a variety of film and television dramas. The way she lives her life, unlike her professional has not been a success and has not been happy. The talented actress has struggled with addiction issues in the past as well as two divorces. In 2005 she lost the custody of her son.
